Having a patio space for entertaining and eating outdoors is always important, but sometimes you may just need your own private spot to relax. Fortunately, it’s not difficult to create one that can make you feel as if you are in a secluded paradise even with limited space and a small budget.

Easy Locations

Those who have large yards or gardens can usually have their pick of where they want to design a space. However often times the easiest way to go is simply in a back corner. This can be especially true if you already have hedges, a wall, or fencing that makes it private on a few sides. Corner spots may only require a few shrubs or a privacy screen to keep them hidden from view.

You don’t even have to go that far from the house if you have very limited space. You could simply use a corner of your patio with some potted plants to keep it hidden from view from your home while giving you your own personal view of the yard.

If your property has any areas that have a view they could be locations to consider that will of course enhance your relaxation with their beauty. Near ponds and streams can also make great spots too if you are lucky enough to have one on your property.

You may want to add a winding garden path leading to your special hidden spot. But natural features like these aren’t a necessity. Side yards frequently are overlooked but like corners, they may have spaces that are already well planted or almost private already and just need a few finishing touches to make them feel as if they are totally secluded no matter how close they really may be.

Make It Comfy

Of course, whatever space you choose you will want it to be comfy. That doesn’t mean it has to be fancy or expensive though.  It’s your spot so what’s comfortable to you is what matters most. For some that may be an outdoor chaise lounge while for others it could be a garden bench.

If you have camping chairs you might want to think about using one of them since it means not having to spend any cash and many of them include a beverage holder which is always convenient. Thinking about how you will be relaxing may also help you to decide on the furniture that will make it the most comfortable. Someone who will be reading and napping might be better off with a hammock than someone who will be meditating.

Plants And Extras

Just like with furniture when it comes to plants be sure to choose what you personally like. If you have a preference for any type of flowers, shrubs, or trees planting them would be a good idea. Flowers with fragrant scents you enjoy are always a plus.

Using containers or pots can also add to the look and also function keep invasive plants that work well as green screens like certain types of bamboo from getting out of hand. Adding garden art such as sculptures that appeal to you is always a fun way to go.

And if you appreciate nature you can incorporate that too with items like bird feeders or birdbaths. The sound of water features can be especially relaxing and help to block out any background noise at the same time.

With an area that’s all your own, you will be able to forget the stresses of daily life and renew your energy and focus. Whether you have a big space or a narrow side yard, with a few extra items you can make it your private escape that’s available whenever you need it.
