Ideas for a Vintage Patio2

You don’t have to leave your garden or patio looking dull. A few chairs placed on the patio may be convenient, but it can be a little bland as far as looks go.  You can work to improve it if you want to make a more exciting and aesthetically-pleasing space.

Have you ever considered a stone slab vintage-style patio? With just a little planning and some diligence, you can make your back or even front yard look like it’s from an era long gone by. And, end up with a cozy place to enjoy your days and spare time. All it takes is a little effort and imagination on your part. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking:

-By covering the majority of your space with natural stone you can often times say goodbye to the expense of lawn maintenance, possibly forever. You won’t have to worry about the constantly growing grass or weeds. With no more cutting and raking, all you will need to do is give your patio a sweep to get rid of dust and wind-blown leaves.

-Light up the place by installing lanterns along the walls of the patio if you decided on erecting any, or just near the walkway. You can add other lighting effects as well, like street lamp look-alikes, or maybe a fire pit?

-Be sure to pick the stones for your project carefully but don’t be afraid to be a little creative. Your imagination can help you create patterns so you don’t end up with something too plain.

-Think about both the size and shape you want. Do you prefer a circular patio? How about something square that mimics the shape of a deck?

-If you want to make your walkway and patio more castle-like, you can erect waist- or chest-high stone walls out of slabs. This will take some heavy lifting and you might need some help if you’re thinking about doing the job yourself, but it will lead to something your neighbors, passers-by, and you can admire.

-Don’t be afraid to decorate the perimeter of your patio with plastic or stone decorations and garden art. A few garden gnomes set next to potted plants could add color and playfulness.

-Speaking of color, just because you are using stone doesn’t mean it has to be only white, brown, or grey. Use multi-colored bricks or stone layers to give the patio some life, or even apply some paint, though that will require occasional maintenance when it starts wearing off.

-Fire pits can actually be used as the main focal point of the patio. Build or buy one and add it in the middle and arrange the rest of your garden furniture and decorations around it. A circular fire pit with some antique-looking pieces of wrought iron patio furniture surrounding it can not only look fantastic but be perfect for resting and relaxing in warmth.

Implementing any of these ideas can make your patio as exciting and interesting as possible. Using your imagination and creativity will help you to attain a colorful, cozy, elegant, and even medieval-looking patio that will be sure to spark comments from neighbors and guests. You’ll have a place for garden parties and family gatherings that will accommodate every need with minimal landscaping required.
